KSHAH started making beats on a borrowed laptop in a Bandra flat with the windows open, which is why so many of his early records have traffic in them. He kept the habit. The rooms are cleaner now and the tape machine is his own, but the principle has not moved: a record should sound like it was made somewhere specific.

His production sits on the boom bap side of the line without being a period piece — swung drums, dense low end, samples chopped close enough to the bone that you hear the decision. He records live players wherever the budget allows, and mixes everything himself.

Beyond his own releases he engineers most of the label's output and runs Boom Bap Bombay, the culture platform FMKRP launched in 2021.
