The entity

Fat Man Kills Records Publishing LLP is a limited liability partnership registered in Mumbai. It is the counterparty on every agreement the group enters into, the registered owner or administrator of the rights it controls, and the entity that accounts to artists and writers.

It is not a law firm and it does not offer advice. It is the company that owns the catalogue and runs the business around it.

Rights

The company holds or administers master rights across the FMKR catalogue and composition rights for the writers it represents. Where it controls both sides of a work, it can clear that work on its own — which is the single most useful thing a rights holder can offer a licensee.

Ownership positions vary by agreement and are documented per release. Nothing in the catalogue has an unclear chain of title, because clearing that up retroactively is the most expensive mistake an independent can make.

Publishing

Compositions are registered with the relevant societies at the point of creation. The company administers collection across performance, mechanical and neighbouring rights, and accounts to writers on a fixed schedule.

Writers retain their copyright. The company takes an administration position for a defined term.

Licensing

Synchronisation, master use and mechanical licences are issued directly. For one-stop works, a licensee deals with a single party for both master and composition.

Standard terms cover film, television, advertising, games, installation and in-store. Requests are quoted against use, term, territory and exclusivity.

Contracts and clearances

Recording agreements, distribution terms, producer agreements, split sheets, sample clearances and featured-artist consents are handled in-house. Splits are documented before a session rather than negotiated after a placement.

Royalties

Statements are issued on a fixed schedule with itemised line detail — territory, service, format and period. Artists and writers can see what a specific track earned without submitting a request for it.

Partnerships and corporate

Catalogue acquisition, joint ventures, label services partnerships, and the formation of new ventures within the group. The company holds each venture, which is why a new brand can launch without renegotiating anything that already exists.

One-stop clearance across most of the catalogue.

Where the company controls both master and composition, a licensee deals with a single party and gets an answer from one conversation. Turnaround on a straightforward request is a working day.
