Slow Rooms
Meher Vaid
Strings, tape, and long-form pieces that sit somewhere between chamber music and ambient.
Meher Vaid trained on violin and abandoned the concert route early, which she describes as the only sensible decision she has made. She composes for small string ensembles and processes the results through tape and analogue delay until the source is half-obscured.
Her work is slow and structural. Pieces run eight or nine minutes and do not resolve where you expect.
She scores for film and installation alongside her releases, and her arrangements appear across the FMKR catalogue.

“Patient, unsentimental, and quietly devastating in the last third.”
